Yanmar ACP200 - Auto Stop/Start System
ACP200 - Auto Start/Stop System
This system is designed to be flexible enough to
operate with most applications. It can be used as a "demand start"
for generators, be controlled by an "irrigation" controller,
programmed for multiple starts or simply stopped or started by
float or pressure switches.
It has inbuilt engine protection to guard against low oil, high
water temperature, low radiator level (TNE only) and fan belt
failure.

There are 3 methods of starting an engine with this
system:
- via a no-voltage, normally open circuit being closed, or
- via the programming
- manually
There are then 4 methods of stopping the
engine:
- by opening the no-voltage circuit,
- via the programming
- via the auxillary, normally open circuit which can be used with
a pressure gauge, float switch etc.

When deciding to use an auto stop/start controller it is
important to consider exactly what 'events' or 'criteria' will
trigger a start and stop signal. Having decided this it is then
important to consider what switches, switch gauges or signalling
devices are required to provide this signal.
The controller operates on the closing and opening of 'NO
VOLTAGE' circuits, ie. the simple bridging and disconnecting of two
terminals.
Two examples of application are:
A bore pump located away from a water tank supplying stock
water
A start could be triggered by the time clock on a daily basis to
run for, say, 3 hours.
A stop could be triggered either by the time clock after three
hours have expired, or by fitting a ball valve at the outlet of the
pump line which shuts off the flow when the tank is full. In this
case a pump high pressure cut out switch is fitted in the delivery
side of the pump line at the pump which stops the engine when the
pressure reaches a pre-determined level. Next day it all starts
again.
A generator or pump lives in a shed close to the
homestead and needs to be started from the house
A simple on/off switch can be fitted in the normally open, no
voltage circuit. When the switch is turned on the engine will start
and when the switch is turned off the engine will stop.
While it is possible to achieve almost any scenario with the
ACP200, it does require some prior planning and preparation. A
short discussion with your Yanmar salesperson will usually be
enough to crystallize your requirements.
